smaragdusParticipant
Hello,
I have completely disabled User Account Control (UAC) changing this registry key:
Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
Key: EbableLUA
Value data: 0
There are some pending Windows updates, after I update and restart I will try again.
Thank you for taking your time to help me!
Regards,

smaragdusParticipantI deleted the AudioStreamer folder and configured it all over again. AudioStreamer was able to play some of the samples- WAV, OGG, MP3, M4A, M4B, MP3 and AAC and was unable to play True Audio- TTA, MusePack-MPC, WavePack-WV, Monkey’s Audio-APE, Flac-FLAC, Apple Lossless Audio Codec-M4A, Windows Media Audio-WMA, while AIF, AIFF, AC3, MP2, MPA and OPUS files were not even indexed.
I suppose that I am not using the right version of FFMPEG.
Can you provide me a link to the version of FFMPEG you are using?smaragdusParticipantI extracted AudioStreamer to a new location. I tried the samples you gave me. I was able to play only aac, mp3, m4a and m4b files. Perhaps I am using not the right version of FFMPEG?
smaragdusParticipantI downloaded both x32 and x64 versions of ffmpeg.exe:
ffmpeg-20140217-git-38a08e0-win32-static.7z
ffmpeg-20140217-git-38a08e0-win64-static.7z
I tried both FFMPEG x32 and x64 to no avail.
I opened the server even with Internet Explorer- the problem persists.
Yes, FFMPEG should be able to play FLACs and APEs.
I downloaded the samples you provided and added the extracted folder into the base music folder and re-created database. AudioStreamer was unable to play even the audio samples.
Then I copied AudioTest folder from disk D to disk C and re-built the library adding only AudioTest folder. Again failure.
It seems that the problem must be inside my system.
I am curious- have you tested AudioStreamer on Windows 8?
If I could use AudioStreamer I will be very glad- about 90% of my audio collection consists of lossless audio files, that’s why Vibe Streamer I used in the past is not suitable for me since it only plays MP3 files.
I hope that you will be able to discover what is causing this problems.
Shall I delete the entire root folder and try to configure the server again?
I hope I am not wasting your time!
Best regards,
AsensmaragdusParticipantThank you for your response!
You will find a screen-shot below.
AudioStreamer has stopped playing even MP3 files.
I created an admin account for you and sent it to you via a PM together with the user name and password. I will leave my PC turned on so that you might test and investigate the problem if you’d like.
I tested the server with 2 browsers- Firefox and CoolNovo (Chromium-based), the same result.
Perhaps the problem is inside my system? Are there any special requirements for AudioStreamer to run properly?

AsensmaragdusParticipantHello Lieven,
Thank you for adding support for more audio formats such as Monkeys’s Audio (ape), FLAC (flac), WavPack (WV) and MusePack (mpc). The extended audio support is great but for some unknown reason I cannot play my lossless audio files. I am sure I am missing something.
I configured the server, re-created the data-base, opened AudioStreamer via the internet sucessfully (through IP address), but AudioStreamer could not play FLACs, APEs and WVs. I will put screen-shots of my settings.
Yes, I downloaded ‘ffmpeg.exe’ and ‘lame.exe’ files and put them into the ‘AudioStreamer’ main folder- in the same folder where ‘AudioStreamer.exe’ resides. Is that correct? I was not sure what you meant by ‘Root Folder’. I hope that you will give me a tip.
I have two more questions:
· Is there a way to add more than one music folder (I am asking because my music is inside two directories).
· Is there a way to add more users than the two default users (I know that these user names and passwords can be changed).I hope that I am not wasting your time and will explain to me how to play lossless audio files in AudioStreamer.
Many thanks for your great work!

smaragdusParticipantHello Lieven,
Thank you for taking your time to answer my questions. I am glad that you have decided to add support for APE, FLAC and AAC, support for lossless audio formats would be great since at least 90% of my music is in lossless formats. Adding support for more audio formats would only make AudioStreamer more powerful and universal. Since AudioStreamer relies on FFmpeg for the ‘on the fly’ transcoding I suppose it won’t be that hard to be implemented.
I would suggest support for some more audio formats besides APE, FLAC and AAC:
WavPack- lossless codec that provides a hybrid (lossy plus lossless encoding) mode, a very common format nowadays:
http://www.wavpack.com/ – WavPack Home Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WavPack – WavPack at WikipediaOptimFROG- another lossless codec with hybrid mode
http://www.losslessaudio.org/ – OptimFROG Home Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OptimFROG – OptimFROG at WikipediaTrue Audio – a lossless codec
http://en.true-audio.com/ – True Audio Home Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TTA_%28codec%29 – True Audio at WikipediaMusepack – a lossy codec (my favourite lossy format)
http://www.musepack.net/ – Musepack Home Page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musepack – Musepack at WikipediaIf AudioStreamer supports APE, FLAC, WV (WavPack) and MPC (Musepack) I would be able to stream virtually all my music.
I would also suggest that you add an option for adding more audio directories- I have a lot of music and it is not in one single directory. I suppose that such a feature would be quite handy not only for me.
I am not a programmer so I won’t be able to contribute to the development of AudioStreamer but you can rely on me for testing.
About Unicode- some of my music is downloaded from torrents and some of the tracks contain Unicode characters- I don’t rename them since I am also a seeder so I keep the downloaded torrents untouched.
I do hope that you won’t abandon the development of AudioStreamer- it is very promising. I have been using Vibe Streamer but it could only stream MP3s and has been discontinued. I don’t know whether you know this project. Since it is open source I suppose you might be interested in having a look at its code:
